Septic System Inspections
At Onsite Solutions Inc., we provide thorough septic system inspections to ensure your system is functioning properly, protecting groundwater, and meeting public health and safety standards.
When Do I Need A Septic System Inspection?
A septic system inspection may be needed in the following circumstances:
-
Buying or selling a property
-
Many counties require a septic system inspection when pulling building or improvement permits for most property upgrades. Since requirements vary by location, we recommend checking with your county for specific regulations before starting your project.
-
At the property owner’s discretion when they notice signs of system issues.
What Goes Into a Septic System Inspection?
A septic inspection is a comprehensive evaluation that examines key components of your system. Our inspections include:
1. Soil Separation Assessments
✔ The depth of suitable soil beneath the drain field to determine if the system is treating wastewater effectively.
✔ Potential risks of failure to protect groundwater due to insufficient soil separation.
✔ Compliance with local and state regulations and environmental protection standards.
2. Groundwater Protection & Public Health
Our primary goal is to ensure that your septic system does not pose an imminent threat to public health or failure to protect groundwater.
3. Septic Tank Pumping & Tank Integrity Assessment
For a Tank Integrity Assessment to be completed during a compliance inspection, the septic tank must be pumped and inspected while empty. The assessment form will then be used as a step in the overall inspection of compliance for your system. Given your location and needs, Onsite Solutions will work with you to ensure this step is fulfilled to meet standards.
4. Documentation Delivered
At the completion of your system inspection, Onsite Solutions will issue the following:
✔ Completed Compliance Inspection Report Form from Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
✔ Completed Tank Integrity Assessment Form.
✔ Site map showing property layout and septic inspection components.
✔ In the event of a non-compliant system, we will provide the necessary information for next steps.
How Do I Prepare For My Septic Inspection?
On the day of your septic system inspection, please consider the following;
-
Ensure that animals and pets of any kind of clear from the outdoor septic system area.
-
Indoor access is not always required, but in instances where access to the inside of the property is needed, all pets should be secured.
-
To maintain safety, please ensure children are supervised during the entire on-site visit.
